Ground Zero Mosque: a positive signal from Obama? A document
FROM: " YOUNG GENERATION"
of John Coletta
This time I have to admit it: Obama is right. I did not think I would have never made against the President (and the country driving) which, in general, I recognize mainly faults and errors, but when the situation demands so obviously, I can not relieve.
I am referring to the words spoken by U.S. President about the construction of the Mosque near Ground Zero. Understand the harsh criticism came from families of the victims, but eventually common sense the position with regard to Islamic minorities: of course, have always been alien to any Islamophobic trend, from the injury itself to what often becomes pure and raw fury. Not always, in fact, part of a universal consciousness perpetrated hostility towards Muslim women and the customs that their religion requires, or suits the true and sincere respect that every state should recognize the ethnic minorities who live there. Full coverage of the female face is the reason that more turns on the political and ethical debate, specifically when discussing laws that govern the limits of freedom accorded to these people, I believe it is not necessary to find and correct beating about the bush: respect is the foundation of everything, and if certain traditions seem so strange we owe it to our view only dully West.
Are not the only one to remember when the Santanchè, during a talk show hosted by Barbara d'Urso and focus on the issue of Muslims in Italy, came to say that "Mohammed was a pedophile" because he had joined a little girl. Here, on reflection, that was one of the (many) occasions when I am terribly ashamed of the military in his own party. But on the other hand, we speak of a person who one day denies Berlusconi, and the next day is ready to stand with the pin of the PDL on the chest. But then "reproach", with the hissing, shrill voice that can be found, to Finian I did the only bang for the seats, how many touches there to hear!
Going back to Obama, are more than happy to have delivered a strong signal against the walls of prevarication, racial hatred (assuming there are rays) and the classical prejudice that many Westerners hatch for Muslims. Obama's words show that there is a real desire to reconstruct the void of Ground Zero show the stereotype that "Muslim equals terrorist" has not only weakened, but that, considering the praise received, seems to be intended to stop, and you could not ask for more. Remember a little 'post-Crusades those paradoxes in which the Muslims built their houses of worship next to Christian churches, without destroying or disturbing them, but as a sign of equality and respect for those who until a few days before they were killed for usual religious reasons. It 's more than ever desirable that the speech of U.S. President are actual resolution, not only in facts, but also in the American mind, moreover, would be irresponsible not to recognize that acts of terrorism that led the attack of September 11 are nothing but a distortion of Islam.
I hope that America's commitment in recognition of religious freedom will be seriously unshakable. There is every reason for this to happen, but in this case I am confident. We'll see.
