The light radiation can be converted into electricity through a device called solar cell .
The photovoltaic cell that exploits the ability the electrons have to capture the energy of photons of light and then use it to move to producing electricity .
The yield of the first photovoltaic cells were born in 1953 in the laboratory and used to supply electrical power to spacecraft, was only 10%.
The low yield and high cost due to limited production and the complicated process of service necessary, this meant that implementation remained limited to laboratory research and those in space.
In more recent years have produced cells with much higher yields and operating at full capacity even on cloudy days. They also found ways to produce new cells, with its lower costs and therefore we are placing great hopes in photovoltaic future as an energy source.
(Adapted from the book by Orazio Di Mauro and Emilio Gardiol "We and the Environment, said to understand the ecology").
With the current decree ENERGY ACCOUNT the photovoltaic is no longer just an expense but also a source of investment and profit. If you want to know more about photovoltaic , download the free guide from here.
